FORT WORTH, TEXAS — Bimbo, a subsidiary of Bimbo Bakeries USA, has introduced Blanco Integral, a new line of white bread with whole grains geared toward Hispanic families.

Bimbo said two slices of Bimbo’s new bread contain 20% of the folic acid suggested for an average daily diet. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Hispanic mothers are three times more likely to have a child with birth defects compared with non-Hispanic mothers.

"Countless Hispanic families across the United States already eat Bimbo products," said Ernesto Martinez, research and development director for Bimbo USA. "We hope our new bread will help all Latinas, even those who aren’t aware that they need this vital nutrition."

Juan Miguel Esaa, U.S. brand manager for Bimbo, said each slice of Blanco Integral provides 8.5 grams of whole grain and is a good source of fiber and contains no trans fat.

The bread is currently available in California, Arizona, Nevada and Texas.
