Martha Stewart to introduce foods with Costco

NEW YORK — Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia has signed a partnership with Costco to produce a line of fresh, refrigerated and frozen foods that will be co-branded Kirkland Signature by Martha Stewart.

"We’ve noted that our greatest untapped opportunity lies in the food category," said Susan Lyne, president and chief executive officer of Martha Stewart Omnimedia. "We’ve built a lot of brand equity in this arena, cooking and entertaining is our leading core content area, our food channel is the top site category on, our Martha Stewart kitchens develop and test hundreds of new recipes each year and our food styling and photography is unparalleled. The challenge was finding a partner that shared our commitment to raising the bar for consumers and to ramping this business to its full potential."

Ms. Lyne added that the company has admired Costco for its innovation and commitment to high quality, high volume stock-keeping units.

Most likely, the products will roll out in 2008. The company is not naming specific products at this point in time as tasting is still underway.
