SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. — Kahala-Cold Stone, the owner of quick-service-brands such as Cold Stone Creamery, Cereality and Blimpie, has announced that Kevin Blackwell will take over as chief executive officer of Cold Stone Creamery. He replaces Doug Ducey.

"This is a change of direction," Mr. Blackwell said. "After the merger, I thought I wanted to slow down, but I realized that I want to remain active in the day-to-day operations. Doug has done an incredible job with the Cold Stone brand and the merger of our two companies is something I intend to build on."

Kahala Corp. and Cold Stone Creamery merged to form Kahala-Cold Stone this past May.
