NORTHFIELD, ILL. — Kraft Foods Inc. on Monday announced plans to cut 400 jobs, or approximately 1% of its workforce, in North America

Kraft said the layoffs will take place across the board in all geographies but will mainly affect employees in its Chicago; Madison, Wis.; Tarrytown, N.Y.; East Hanover, N.J.; and Toronto offices.

The move comes as the nation’s largest food and beverage company works to incorporate a three-year transformation with the goal of improving sales and profits by lowering costs, launching new products and boosting marketing.
