OAK BROOK, ILL. — McDonald’s Corp. announced its global comparable sales increased 7.7% in November and 7.1% year-to-date. The company said system-wide sales for restaurants worldwide increased 1.9% in November, or 9.6% in constant currencies.

"McDonald’s continued strong performance reflects the benefits of our multidimensional approach," said Jim Skinner, chief executive officer. "Convenient locations, extended hours and quality food at an outstanding value are all reasons why people are choosing McDonald’s."

Comparable sales at the Oak Brook-based fast-food chain rose 4.5% in the United Sates in November driven by the breakfast business, the popularity of the chicken line-up and everyday menu value.

European comparable sales rose 7.8%. Countries leading the increase were France, the United Kingdom and Russia. Also in November, McDonald’s said comparable sales increased 13.2% in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa.
