Sargento Foods announces promotions, new hires

PLYMOUTH, WIS. — Three promotions and three new hires recently were announced at Sargento Foods Inc., including several within the company’s Consumer Products Division.

Shawn Marcom was promoted to senior director of procurement. He succeeds Jerry McGuinn, who retired earlier this year. Mr. Marcom joined Sargento in 1996 and has worked as procurement manager and senior procurement manager. In his new role, he will be responsible for building supplier relationships, negotiating supplier agreements and overseeing the ingredient and supply area teams. Before joining Sargento he was a procurement agent at Kaukauna Cheese Co.

Brian Jenny was promoted to senior manager of pricing and analysis in the Food Service Division. Mr. Jenny will be responsible for all aspects of division pricing, risk management, accruals and profit margin analysis. He joined Sargento in 1989 as an electrical engineer and has held various positions during the past 20 years, including project engineer, operations services director and, most recently, marketing manager of new product development, food service and food ingredients.

Within the company’s Consumer Products Division, Jim Besiada was promoted to national customer business manager. Mr. Besiada will be responsible for managing AWG, Schnucks and regional customers in Southern California. He also will be responsible for managing Sargento’s military business (DeCA). A 26-year veteran with Sargento, Mr. Besiada earlier held titles as a sales coordinator, retail territory manager, area sales manager and customer business manager.

Steven Harrison has joined Sargento as a national account sales manager, where he will work on the Kroger team. Most recently, he was a national sales manager for Traditional Baking, where he was responsible for broker management and direct sales of branded and private label products to all trade channels.

Rob Krause has been named marketing manager of core business with responsibility for collaborative development and execution of marketing plans for the shredded cheese product line. Prior to joining Sargento, he was a marketing manager for Appleton Papers and an associate brand manager at Kimberly-Clark on the Kleenex brand. Earlier, he worked in brand management at Birds Eye Foods and as a food scientist at Kraft Foods Inc.

Nicole Pauly has joined Sargento as associate marketing manager for refrigerated and non-refrigerated snacks. Prior to joining the company she was an assistant creative director at Coalesce Marketing and Design in Appleton, Wis., where she was responsible for advertising for clients such as Kimberly-Clark, Strum Foods and SCA Tissue.
