PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Green & Black’s, which already offers its entire line of chocolates in organic, said it will make its entire line Fair Trade Certified. All of the company’s chocolate bars in the United States are expected to start using Fair Trade Certified ingredients by mid-2010 with 100% of the products certified and available by the end of this year.

The company has offered its Maya Gold Fair Trade Certified chocolate product line in the United Kingdom for the past 15 years. Green & Black’s chocolates have been available in the United States since 2007.

“Green & Black’s 15-year history of sourcing Fair Trade Certified cocoa has made an impressive difference in the Brazilian farming communities from which it sources, and we are thrilled with the company’s deepened commitment to ethical trading,” said Paul Rice, president and chief executive officer of TransFair USA. “This expansion will extend the benefits of Fair Trade to thousands of farmers in the Dominican Republic, empowering them to take care of their families, protect the environment and improve their communities.”
