ROSEMONT, ILL. — U.S. Foodservice has purchased Great Western Meats, a food service distributor of fresh-cut portion meats in central Florida.

“The addition of Great Western Meats’ broadline food service business and meat cutting operating will expand our customer base and presence across the Orlando area,” said Keith Campbell, region president of U.S. Foodservice in Florida. “In addition, Great Western Meats’ customers will now have access to more than 14,000 products and the entire range of services offered by U.S. Foodservice-Port Orange.”

Great Western Meats has a distribution warehouse and meat-cutting facility in Orlando, Fla. The warehouse will integrate into the U.S. Foodservice distribution center in Port Orange, Fla., in July. The meat-cutting facility will continue to operate and provide product to U.S. Foodservice customers in Florida under the Stock Yards brand name. Additionally, U.S. Foodservice’s meat cutting facility in Clearwater, Fla., will close on June 24 with that volume being transferred to Great Western Meats’ facility, which will be renamed Stock Yards – Florida.
