HENDERSON, COLO. — Birko has agreed to acquire Chad Co., a manufacturer specializing in automated washing and pasteurizing systems for meat harvesting and processing operations. Chad will become Chad Equipment, L.L.C., a Birko company. Birko will combine its equipment division into Chad Equipment, L.L.C., based in Olathe, Kas. The acquisition combines Birko’s focus on processing, intervention and sanitizing chemistry and Chad’s focus on harvest and processing equipment.

“This provides an exciting opportunity for our customers as two of the best known food safety companies in the protein industry team up to offer integrated solutions in both chemistry and equipment,” said Mark Swanson, chief executive officer of Henderson-based Birko.

Mike Gangel, president of Chad Co., will stay on as Chad’s president for an extended period of time.
