Southwest Traders to acquire D.S.D. assets from CoolBrands

TORONTO — Southwest Traders, a provider of customer product distribution to independent operators as well as regional and national food chain accounts, has reached agreement with CoolBrands International Inc. to acquire certain direct-store door assets. As part of the agreement, Eskimo Pie Frozen Distribution, Inc., a CoolBrands subsidiary, has agreed to sell its D.S.D. frozen distribution assets in Florida, California, Oregon and Washington to Southwest Traders.

The sale, valued at approximately $5 million, is expected to close on Nov. 17.

CoolBrands said it plans to use proceeds from the sale to repay a portion of its borrowings.

Founded in 1977, Southwest Traders specializes in quick-serve restaurants, with a focus in the yogurt, ice cream, juice and smoothie bars and coffee segments of the industry.
