NORWICH, N.Y. — The yogurt manufacturer Chobani has announced plans to build a new yogurt manufacturing facility in Twin Falls, Idaho. The company said it plans to invest $100 million in the new plant and it will be operational some time in 2012.

“We visited numerous possible sites over the past several months and met a lot of great people along the way.” said Hamdi Ulukaya, chief executive of Chobani. “It was a hard decision to make, but in the end, we chose Twin Falls due to its abundant milk supply, skilled labor force and tight knit local community. We're looking forward to starting the next chapter of the Chobani story here in Idaho's Magic Valley.”

The Twin Falls project will not affect Chobani’s plans to expand its yogurt manufacturing plant in South Edmeston, N.Y., according to the company. This past March the company announced it would invest approximately $100 million to expand the production capacity of the South Edmeston facility.
