Raymond, Troy to speak at F.D.L.I. conference

WASHINGTON — The Food and Drug Law Institute has announced Richard A. Raymond, M.D., and Tevi D. Troy, Ph.D., will be speaking at its food safety conference on Jan. 24.

Dr. Raymond is undersecretary for food safety at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, and Mr. Troy is deputy secretary at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The conference, "Food Safety: Problems & Solutions — Experts Discuss what Needs to Be Done and Predict What Will Happen," will take place at The Madison Hotel in Washington. It is designed to explore the most significant food safety issues facing the industry, government, consumer groups and other thought leaders. It also will evaluate and explore legislative initiatives related to food safety.

Other speakers include David W.K. Acheson, M.D., assistant commissioner for food protection with the Food and Drug Administration; Cathleen A. Enright, Ph.D., vice-president of federal government affairs for the Western Growers Association and Michael R. Taylor, a research professor in the department of health policy at George Washington University.
