August soybean crush up 3% from year ago

WASHINGTON — Soybean crushings in August were 146,195,071 bus, up 3% from August 2006, the U.S. Census Bureau said in its latest Fats and Oils — Oilseed Crushings report (click here to read report.)

The August number was above trade expectations that averaged just over 145 million bus.

Soybean oil stocks at the end of August totaled 3,008,476,000 lbs, down 2% from 3,060,658,000 lbs a year ago and below average trade estimates at 3,019 million lbs.

Soybean meal and hull stocks on August 31 were 234,685 tons, up 4% from 225,848 tons last year.
