July egg product output down 4% from year ago

WASHINGTON — The total amount of edible liquid product from shell eggs broken in July was 213,618,000 lbs, down 4% from a year ago and down 5% from June, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Egg Products report (click here to read report).

July production of edible whole eggs was 134,172,000 lbs, down 3% from July 2006, liquid whites 51,883,000 lbs, down 5%, and liquid yolks 27,563,000 lbs, down 3%.

Shell eggs broken in July totaled 166,073,000 dozen, down 3% from July 2006 and June 2007, the U.S.D.A. said.

For the January-July period of 2007, shell eggs broken totaled 1,147,644,000 dozen, down 3% from the same period in 2006, the U.S.D.A. said. Edible liquid whole egg production for the period was 954,793,000 lbs, down 2% from last year, whites 357,538,000 lbs, down 3%, and yolks 190,890,000 lbs, down 5%. Production of inedible liquid was 132,203,000 lbs, up 1% from a year ago.
