DuPont to create jobs with facility expansion

MADISON, WIS. — DuPont Nutrition & Health announced it will expand its manufacturing facility in Madison. The expansion will include a new milling, blending and packaging line for bacteria cultures, as well as increased fermentation capacity for cultures, which are used in such products as yogurts, cheeses and probiotics.

The facility currently employs more than 200 people, and expects to add at least 12 more after the expansion. The project is projected to be completed by mid-2015.

“We produce cultures and probiotics that are used by our customers to make cheese, yogurt and dietary supplements,” said Eric Hohol, site manager for the DuPont Madison facility. “Our ingredients protect the quality of the food and provide healthy and nutritious foods for consumers. This expansion is indicative of our company’s growth in the food space, as well as the collaborative partnership we have with the state of Wisconsin.”

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. has authorized up to $140,000 in state tax credits for the company over the next three years, contingent on the amount of jobs it created and the amount of capital invested by DuPont in that time.

“W.E.D.C. is pleased to be able to assist a global company like DuPont with its expansion in Madison,” said Reed Hall, secretary and chief executive officer of W.E.D.C. “The expansion will enable DuPont to install new equipment that will help position the company for future growth.”
