DALLAS — Ralph Scozzafava has been named executive vice-president and chief operating officer of Dean Foods Co., effective Oct. 1. Mr. Scozzafava joined the company in October 2014 as executive vice-president and chief commercial officer. In his new role, he will continue to oversee the commercial functions of sales, marketing and research and development, with added responsibilities over operations and procurement and logistics.

Mr. Scozzafava has more than 30 years of experience in the consumer goods and grocery categories, with leadership roles at Furniture Brands International and Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. He also spent many years in management with Johnson & Johnson, Clorox and the Campbell Soup Co.

“I’ve really enjoyed the dairy industry, and I’m excited to begin this new phase of my career with Dean Foods,” Mr. Scozzafava said. “I’ve been impressed with the quality of people within the organization and all we can accomplish together. The launch of DairyPure earlier this year was one example of how I think we’re changing the dairy category, and I very much look forward to this next chapter.”

Mr. Scozzafava will continue to report to Gregg Tanner, chief executive officer of Dean Foods.

“Ralph is a passionate leader with a successful track record in building strong, effective teams,” Mr. Tanner said. “His effectiveness during his tenure as c.c.o. is a great launching pad as he steps into the role of c.o.o. I look forward to working closely with Ralph for many years to come.”
