Freshway Foods produce, US Foods
Freshway Foods is a fresh fruit and vegetable processor, repacker and distributor for retail and food service.

ROSEMONT, ILL. — US Foods, Inc. has agreed to acquire Freshway Foods, a fresh fruit and vegetable processor, repacker and distributor that serves customers in the eastern half of the United States. Financial terms of the transaction, which is expected to close June 10, were not disclosed.

Freshway Foods, established in 1988, operates out of a facility in Sidney, Ohio, which US Foods plans to keep open. In the facility, Freshway cuts, cleans, chops and packages raw produce. The company also has established a farm-to-fork food safety approach, the company said, which ensures food safety compliance from the grower through consumption.

“We are very excited about this new partnership with US Foods,” said Phil Gilardi and Frank Gilardi, co-owners of Freshway Foods. “Since we started this business, our success has been built upon our commitment to our associates and our customers, and we are looking forward to the next chapter for Freshway Foods as part of a well-established and reputable company like US Foods.”

Freshway joins the growing list of recent acquisitions for US Foods, which acquired analytics firm Food Genius, Cara Donna Provision Co. and Dierks Waukesha in the past six months.
