LOS ANGELES — Chef’d, an on-line meal kit delivery service, has partnered with the Hershey Co. to launch dessert kits. Featuring recipes from Hershey’s Kitchens and Scharffen Berger, options include s’mores cookies, red velvet cream cheese squares, flourless chocolate raspberry torte and fudge brownies, among others. Prices range from $2 to $4 per serving.

The home meal kit market is growing approximately 300% each year and is expected to reach $36 billion over the next 10 years, according to research from Piper Jaffray. Launched last year, Los Angeles-based Chef’d offers pre-portioned ingredients for meals developed by celebrity chefs and health experts at Chefd.com. The partnership with Hershey marks the company’s foray into the desserts category.

“Hershey is taking a leadership position as the first confection brand to sell dessert kits on our site, and we are thrilled to be working with them to get the kits to consumers nationally,” said Kyle Ransford, founder and chief executive officer of Chef’d. “We think they are trend setting and others are going to follow.”

Consumers may order the dessert kits on HersheysKitchens.com, Scharffenberger.com and Chefd.com without a subscription or membership fees.

“We’re pleased to partner with Chef’d to be the first to bring branded desserts to the meal kit market,” said Carrie Lathrop, manager, e-commerce and emerging channels, The Hershey Co. “Hershey is committed to offering our beloved brands every place where people shop. The rise of the meal kit market is undeniable — boxes provide unprecedented convenience while maintaining the engaging experience of home baking.”
