James M. Splinter has been named group vice-president, corporate strategy for Hormel Foods.

AUSTIN, MINN. — Hormel Foods Corp. has announced several new leadership appointments across business segments, underpinning the company’s continued focus on accelerating innovation, completing acquisitions and building a balanced portfolio, said James P. Snee, president and chief executive officer, who will assume the role of chief executive officer on Oct. 31.

James M. Splinter has been named group vice-president, corporate strategy, and will be responsible for leading Hormel’s strategic growth areas, including innovation, corporate development and strategy, consumer insights and digital and e-commerce. A 30-year veteran of Hormel, Mr. Splinter most recently was group vice-president, grocery products.

“Jim Splinter has led impressive growth in our grocery products segment by expanding our legacy product portfolio, heading up the recent acquisitions of the Skippy and Justin’s brands and overseeing our MegaMex Foods joint venture,” Mr. Snee said. “In this new role, Jim will be focused on enhancing our business model, both organically and through strategic acquisitions, across our entire portfolio. He will also provide visionary leadership for our e-commerce capabilities, working closely with our customers to ensure that consumers have access to our products around the world, right from their devices.”

Luis G. Marconi will succeed Mr. Splinter in his role as group vice-president, grocery products, with responsibility for leadership of Hormel’s grocery business and its portfolio of branded products, including Spam, Skippy, Hormel, Justin’s and MegaMex. Mr. Marconi, who began his career with Hormel in 2000, has served as vice-president of marketing for grocery products since 2012.

Steven J. Venenga will assume the role of vice-president of marketing for the grocery products segment, with responsibility for driving marketing efforts, setting brand strategy and leading the brand and marketing teams. Mr. Venenga, who joined the company in 1996, currently serves as vice-president of marketing for meat products at Hormel.

Swen Neufeldt, Hormel Foods

Swen Neufeldt will succeed Mr. Venenga as vice-president, meat products marketing, leading the strategic marketing efforts for the company’s meat products business, including Hormel Black Label bacon, Hormel Natural Choice products, Hormel Rev wraps and Hormel Rev Bites. Most recently, he was president, Hormel Foods International, Asia Pacific, where he was responsible for leading the company’s expansion in China.
