HARVEY, N.D. — Firebird Artisan Mills has added two production lines at its facility in Harvey, a move the company said likely makes it “the largest 100% dedicated, certified gluten-free and allergen-free flour mill in North America.”

“When you factor efficiency improvements, this expansion nearly triples our plant capacity to about 7 million lbs and enables us to be a better strategic partner for our customers,” said Brady Eckart, director of operations at Firebird. “We’ll have greater flexibility in meeting our customers’ scheduling needs, which is incredibly important as we work for them to help get their products to shelf safely and quickly.”

Firebird is one of a few dedicated gluten-free, allergen-free and non-G.M.O. mills in the world that produces bulk flours, mixes/blends onsite, and packaged goods for both wholesale and retail channels.

Firebird was formed in 2014 by Agspring, a Leawood, Kas.-based provider of grain, oilseed and specialty crop handling, processing and logistics operations. The formation of Firebird included Agspring acquiring the assets of Dakota Prairie Organic Flour Co., a milling operation in Harvey.

Firebird is a full-service, dedicated gluten-free mill certified to 10 p.p.m. (parts per million). The company holds a number of certifications, including International Certification Services Gluten-Free and N.O.P. Organic, U.S.D.A. Organic, European Union Organic Standard, Japan Organic, and Blue Ribbon Kosher.
