AUSTIN, TEXAS — Giannella Alvarez has been named chief executive officer of Beanitos, Inc., a maker of bean-based snacks. She joins the company from Harmless Harvest, a coconut water brand, where she was president and c.e.o. for two-and-a-half years.

Ms. Alvarez succeeds Dan Costello, who has left the company to pursue another opportunity. She brings more than 25 years of experience in U.S. and international consumer packaged goods to the role.

“I am confident that Giannella’s caliber of experience and leadership will accelerate Beanitos’ rapid growth in the snacking category,” said Doug Foreman, founder of Beanitos.

Founded in 2010, Beanitos offers a range of snack chips made with pinto, black or white beans.

“With so many snacking options out there, Beanitos offers a snack platform that is rich in plant-based protein and fiber in a wide variety of delicious flavors,” Ms. Alvarez said. “Together, we will continue to innovate the snack industry and help educate consumers on the superfood power of beans.”
