Starbucks debuts Hearty Blueberry Oatmeal

SEATTLE — Starbucks Coffee Co. has introduced Hearty Blueberry Oatmeal that features a blend of steel-cut and rolled oats, blueberries, a fruit, nut and seed medley and agave syrup.

“We know many people make wellness resolutions to kick-off the new year, and we’re excited to offer steel-cut oats and fresh fruit as part of our new oatmeal offering with Hearty Blueberry Oatmeal,” said Mary Wagner, Ph.D., senior vice-president of research and development at Starbucks. “Starbucks oatmeal has been a customer favorite since its launch in 2008 and we’re committed to continuing to innovate and provide selections that support a healthy lifestyle.”

Hearty Blueberry Oatmeal has 7 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber in a 280-calorie bowl. The oatmeal has a suggested retail price of $3.45.

Starbucks also has changed the name of its “Perfect Oatmeal” to “Classic Oatmeal” and has altered the recipe to include a steel-cut and rolled oats blend. The oatmeal has a suggested retail price of $2.75.

Glad to know Perfect Oatmeal isn't gone. I tried the new blueberry and didn't like it at all. The fruit and nut mix was bland and the agave didn't help much. Blueberries weren't very sweet and the oats were too watery. Don't think I'll try it again, but the effort is certainly commendable. It's probably just my sweet tooth. Lol!
