Sparkling Ice introduces tea line

SEATTLE — Sparkling Ice is extending its beverage line with a zero-calorie iced tea. The carbonated beverage is a combination of brewed black tea, green tea and fruit juice. Flavors include raspberry, lemon and peach. "As we continue to develop exciting new flavors and line extensions for Sparkling Ice, customer satisfaction remains a top priority," said Kevin Klock, president and chief executive officer of Talking Rain Beverage Co. "Consumers are searching for refreshing beverage alternatives, and we noticed a largely untapped and growing category, which presented Sparkling Ice beverages with the opportunity to deliver a line of zero calorie sparkling teas." Sparkling Ice tea will be available nationwide in single serve bottles in January 2015.   

Pillsbury rolls out Toaster Scrambles

MINNEAPOLIS — Pillsbury is introducing Toaster Scrambles made with 50% more bacon, sausage, egg and cheese. The four flavors include: sausage, egg and cheese; bacon, egg and cheese; bacon, sausage and egg; and egg and cheese.

Baskin-Robbins adds two new cake options

CANTON, MASS. — Baskin-Robbins, a division of Dunkin’ Brands, Inc., is expanding cake options with the addition of the celebration mini roll and the rosette mini roll. Both cake options are available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $12.99.

Hostess offers Danish, muffin, and donut flavors

LAS VEGAS — Hostess Brands L.L.C. is expanding breakfast offerings with the addition of new Danish, muffin, and donut varieties. New Danish selections include apple, berries and cheese, cheese, and chocolate. Jumbo muffins will be available in banana nut, blueberry and chocolate chip. Glazed Donettes will be available in the donut category. “Hostess has been driving the sweet baked goods category growth with a focus on both breakfast and all-day snacking. Our new items complement our existing breakfast line of top-selling Donettes, coffee cakes, honey buns and cinnamon rolls,” said Andy Jacobs, senior vice-president and chief customer officer, Hostess Brands, L.L.C. Hostess donut, Danish and muffin flavors will be available in single-serve packs nationwide In January 2015 for a suggested retail price of $1.79.

Pacific Foods packs in protein with organic broth products

TUALATIN, ORE. — Pacific Foods is rolling out organic bone broth products. The broth selections are made by slow-cooking pasture-raised chicken and turkey bones with apple cider vinegar, water, onion, and fresh herbs and seasonings for 24 hours. Each serving of broth packs in 9 grams of protein and 40 calories per serving. In addition, the products are shelf-stable and available in 32-oz and 8-oz resealable B.P.A.-free aseptic cartons. Bone broth flavors include organic chicken in ginger, lemongrass or original; organic turkey in original and rosemary, sage and thyme.  “Our bone broth has more protein than a glass of milk, half the calories and a heck of a lot more flavor,” said Kevin Tisdale, vice-president of marketing for Pacific Foods. “Now, consumers can simply pour, heat and enjoy in just minutes.” Bone broth products are available nationwide at natural food stories and conventional grocery stores.

Lee Kum Kee launches sriracha chili ketchup

CITY OF INDUSTRY, CALIF. — Lee Kum Kee is introducing sriracha chili ketchup. The new ketchup variety joins its line of sriracha chili sauces. The product is comprised of sweet tomato ketchup and sriracha chili sauce. The ketchup variety doesn’t contain gluten, MSG, artificial flavoring, preservatives, or colors. The sriracha chili ketchup is available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $3.99 per 18-oz bottle.

Tim Hortons adds steak to menu

OAKVILLE, ONT. — Tim Hortons is expanding its menu with the addition of steak. The new menu items include a steak and cheese panini as well as a Chipotle-flavored option. "It was clear that we not only needed to bring back the original steak and cheese panini for good, but also complement it with a bolder Chipotle option and seize the opportunity to introduce steak at breakfast. All three of these sandwiches are hearty meals that feature steak sourced from 100% Canadian beef that will easily satisfy a steak lover's craving," said Tammy Martin, vice-president of marketing, food and merchandise for Tim Hortons.

Skinnygirl launches popcorn product

OMAHA, NEB. — Orville Redenbacher’s, a business unit of ConAgra Foods, Inc., is partnering up with Skinnygirl to produce a microwave popcorn product. The popcorn is available in two flavors: lime and salt and butter and sea salt. Skinnygirl microwave popcorn contains 25 calories per cup of popped popcorn. In addition, the gluten-free popcorn is made with whole grains and doesn’t contain trans fat. Ten packs of Skinnygirl popcorn are available for a suggested retail price of $4.99.

Annie’s launches grass-fed macaroni and cheese

BERKELEY, CALIF. — Annie’s is debuting a line of organic, grass-fed macaroni and cheese. The macaroni and cheese is available in three varieties: shells and real aged cheddar, shells and white cheddar, and classic mild cheddar. Annie’s products are made without antibiotics, synthetic hormones, persistent pesticides, artificial flavors, or synthetic colors or preservatives. "Annie's is excited to enter the Grass Fed category with an innovative new line of macaroni and cheese," said Amanda Steele, senior vice-president of marketing at Annie's. "We know consumer demand for grass fed products is growing. In fact, 92% of Annie's consumers surveyed noted that they purchase grass fed products2, including meat, dairy and yogurt. We expect that they'll be thrilled to see grass fed cheese in one of their favorite convenient meals." Annie’s organic grass-fed macaroni and cheese varieties are available nationwide at Whole Foods.

Nature’s Path rolls out new salsas and tortilla chips

RICHMOND, B.C. — Nature’s Path is adding new tortilla chip and salsa varieties to the product lineup. The salsa is made with tomatoes, onions, chipotle, jalapeño peppers, garlic, cilantro, and other herbs and spices. Salsas are available in chipotle, Mexicana medium, and Mexicana mild flavors. Tortilla chips are produced with stone-ground kernel corn. The gluten-free and Non-GMO Project Verified chips are available in red, white, blue and yellow corn varieties. Tortilla chips are sold for a suggested retail price of $4.29 and salsas are available for a suggested retail price of $3.99.

Dunkin’ Donuts announces chewy granola bar addition

CANTON, MASS. — Dunkin’ Donuts is rolling out Dunkin’ Go Bars. The pre-packaged, chewy granola bars are created with the original blend coffee. Each bar consists of 220 calories, 7 grams of protein, 8 B vitamins, and 12 grams of whole grains. The granola bars are sold at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants.

Chick-fil-A features grill items

ATLANTA — Chick-fil-A is introducing new grilled menu options. New menu options include grilled nuggets, chicken sandwiches, market salads and wraps. Chick-fil-A products are marinated with sea salt, lemon, garlic and herbs. "With our new grilled options, Chick-fil-A now has a countless number of meal combinations and pairings that are all under 500 calories," said Jodie Worrell, nutrition manager for Chick-fil-A.

State Garden introduces line of cooking greens

CHELSEA, MASS. — State Garden is announcing the release of a new line of conventional cooking greens. The greens will appear under the brand’s Simple Beginnings label. Varieties include baby kale, baby spinach and sauté blend. The pre-washed greens are available in 9-oz bags.

Popcorn, Indiana releases new flavors

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — Popcorn, Indiana is innovating with new popcorn varieties. The additions include granola popcorn clusters, Chicago style popcorn, and Drizzlecorn dark fudge and sea salt caramel. Granola popcorn clusters includes bite-sized snacks produced with flaxseed, oats, and almonds. Clusters are available in vanilla almond and chocolate coconut. Chicago-style popcorn pairs caramel and cheese popcorn. The Drizzelcorn flavor, dark fudge sea salt caramel, is available for a limited time only. Popcorn varieties are available nationwide.
