Sargento Tastings rolls out eight new specialty cheese varieties

PLYMOUTH, WIS. — Sargento Tastings is rolling out specialty snack chunk cheeses. The varieties are cut from block cheese and come in eight flavors, including aged Wisconsin cheddar, aged Vermont white cheddar, bruschetta jack, fiesta pepper jack, medium Asiago, Havarti, Parmentino, and New Zealander. "Specialty cheeses are now accessible and conveniently located in the dairy aisle," said Chris McCarthy, director of marketing for the Sargento Consumer Products Division. "With Sargento Tastings, everyone can explore a variety of specialty cheeses from a name they know and trust. They are perfect for a casual get-together or a satisfying solo snack." Sargento Tastings are available in 3.25- to 3.95-oz servings for a suggested retail price of $2.69 to $2.89 each.

High Brew Coffee launches line of ready-to-drink coffee beverages

AUSTIN, TEXAS — High Brew Coffee is introducing ready-to-go cold brew coffee drinks. The palm-sized cans come in flavors such as Double Espresso, Mexican Vanilla, Salted Caramel, and Dark Chocolate Mocha. Each serving is only 50 to 60 calories and is made from 100% Fair-Trade-Certified Arabica coffee beans. The coffee beans are triple-filtered and cold-brewed for over 12 hours, which makes for less acidic coffee. High Brew Coffee beverages are sold for a suggested retail price of $2.49 and are available at Whole Foods, Fresh ‘n Easy, HEB, Fresh Market, and other grocery stores nationwide.

Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s announce big and bold Texas BBQ Thickburger

CARPINTERIA, CALIF. — Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s are stepping up the burger category with the Texas BBQ Thickburger. The burger includes smoked beef brisket, mesquite BBQ sauce, jalapeño and onion strips, American cheese, and a charbroiled 100% black angus beef patty. Thickburgers are offered as 1/3-lb and ½-lb sizes at both chains. Texas BBQ Thickburgers are sold for a suggested retail price of $4.39 at participating Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. restaurants.

Nonni’s Foods debuts mango coconut THINaddictives

OAKBROOK TERRACE, ILL. — Nonni’s Foods is releasing mango coconut THINaddictives. The snacks are made from California almonds, mango, and grated coconut and contain 100 calories per serving. The new mango coconut flavor joins original varieties such as cranberry almond, pistachio almond, cinnamon raisin almond, blueberry oat almond, and banana dark chocolate almond. Each box contains six packs for a suggested retail price of $3.29 at grocery stores nationwide.

LEAF Brands launches Astro Pop zero-calorie sodas

Newport Beach, CALIF. — LEAF Brands is introducing zero calorie Astro Pop sodas to the product lineup. The zero calorie offerings include three flavors: pineapple, passion fruit, and cherry. The sodas are sweetened with a sugar-free blend called Ultrasweet, which is 100% naturally derived without GMOs. Astro Pop sodas are sold in 12-oz glass bottles for a suggested retail price of $1.69 at Rocket Fizz and other specialty stores nationwide.

ProTings rolls out protein-based chips

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — ProTings is releasing protein chips made with pea protein, flax seeds and sunflower oil. In addition, the chips are vegan, kosher, soy-free, gluten-free, bioengineered-free, and have 120 calories and 7 grams of carbohydrates. ProTings chips offer 15 grams of protein per serving and come in three flavors: chili lime, southern BBQ, and sea salt.

Balance Bar debuts Bare line

SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. — Balance Bar is releasing a new line of nutrition bars made with whole nuts and fruit. The bars are available in three flavors: mixed berry nut, sea salt caramel nut, and sweet and spicy nut. In addition, Bare bars are non-G.M.O., certified gluten-free, soy free, and vegetarian.

Quest Nutrition introduces high-protein snack potato chip

LOS ANGELES — Quest Nutrition is announcing the introduction of Quest protein chips. Each bag of protein chips packs in 21 grams of whey and milk based protein with 5 grams of carbohydrates and 1.5 grams of fat. The chips are baked and gluten-free and come in three flavors: sea salt, barbecue, and cheddar and sour cream. 

Stonyfield Farm rolls out organic petite crème product

LONDONDERRY, N.H. — Stonyfield Farm, a business unit of Groupe Danone, Paris, is launching a petite crème made with fresh cheese from France. "With our organic Petite Creme, we chose to explore fromage blanc because it's nutritionally similar to Greek yogurt, but has a totally unique taste and texture that feels indulgent even though it's low in fat," said Sophie Schmitt, director of marketing at Stonyfield. The product is made with cheese cultures added to organic milk in lieu of yogurt cultures. The 5.3-oz cups come in seven flavors: vanilla, strawberry, blueberry, cherry, peach, strawberry banana and plain.

Jimmy Dean adds frozen lunch and dinner entrees

CHICAGO — Jimmy Dean, a business unit of Hillshire Brands, is launching 16 new entrees for lunch and dinner. The lineup includes eight new Jimmy Dean sandwiches and bowls, including pulled pork sandwich, hickory smoked turkey breast sandwich, smoked sausage sandwich, beef sandwich, grilled steak bowl, smoked bacon mac and cheese bowl, pulled pork bowl, and golden roasted chicken bowl. In addition, Jimmy Dean is rolling out eight new Delights by Jimmy Dean sandwiches and bowls, including smoked ham sandwich, pulled chicken sandwich, hickory smoked turkey breast sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, golden roasted turkey bowl, three cheese pasta bowl, hickory smoked ham bowl, and southwest style grilled chicken bowl. “For years, it has been our promise as a brand to provide consumers with convenient frozen breakfast sandwiches and breakfast bowls that are full of flavor and made with high-quality ingredients,” said Eric Schwartz, group vice-president and general manager, Jimmy Dean brand. “At a time when consumers are dissatisfied with the current lunch and dinner options available in the frozen aisle, we’re uniquely able to build upon our expertise in breakfast and bring new, flavorful options that consumers can enjoy at lunch, dinner or even snack time.” The sandwiches and bowls come in microwavable pouches. New Jimmy Dean entrée offerings are available in the frozen section of grocery stores nationwide for a suggested retail price of $2.49 to $2.99 for sandwiches and $2.99 to $3.49 for bowls.
