Häagen-Dazs brand releases gelato bars

OAKLAND, CALIF. — Häagen-Dazs, a business unit of Nestle, is introducing three new gelato bar flavors: vanilla caramel pizzelle, tiramisu dark chocolate, and strawberry chocolate. “With the success of the Häagen-Dazs Gelato line, consumers began to ask for on-the-go gelato options, and we brainstormed new ways for them to experience the essence of Italian gelato,” said Alex Placzek, brand director for Häagen-Dazs. “With unique ingredients such as pizzelle cookies, mascarpone cheese and rich dark chocolate, the new bars are crafted unlike any others on the market — a true representation of dense, delightful Italian flavor that Americans have grown to love.” Häagen-Dazs gelato bars are available nationwide in packages of three for a suggested retail price of $4.99.

Annie’s rolls out frozen pizza snacks

BERKELEY, CALIF. — Annie’s, Inc. is launching pizza poppers and mini pizza bagels in the frozen aisle. Pizza poppers and pizza bagel bites feature mozzarella, Parmesan, Romano, Italian sausage, and uncured pepperoni. The products contain 7 to 10 grams of protein per serving. In addition, the frozen pizza snacks don’t contain artificial flavors or colors. The pizza poppers and mini bagel pizzas are available in three varieties: uncured pepperoni, three cheese, and a combination of uncured pepperoni, sausage, and cheese. The pizza products are part of the Made to Matter Target line and are available at Target stores nationwide. Pizza poppers are sold for a suggested retail price of $3.99 and mini pizza bagels are available for a suggested retail price of $4.99.

Bertolli introduces two Italian-style tortas

OMAHA, NEB. — Bertolli, a ConAgra Foods brand, is announcing the introduction of Italian-style tortas. The tortas are available in two flavors: three cheese marinara and Italian sausage. Single-serve tortas offer ingredients such as ricotta, Parmesan, mozzarella, basil marinara, Italian sausage and tomatoes. “Consumers want restaurant-quality food at home without a lot of prep time, and this includes pizzas, calzones, and other popular Italian dishes,” said Jenn Freeman, vice-president and general manager, ConAgra Foods. “Our Italian-style tortas give them just what they want — hot, melting cheeses paired with flavorful sauces wrapped in a flaky, made-from-scratch crust. In addition, ConAgra Foods is known for its breadth and depth of frozen items, including pot pies and other hearty meals, and the unique torta adds to our product variety and helps consumers expand their options for at-home dining.” Bertolli tortas are available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $2.99.

Dunkin’ Donuts adds almond milk to menu

CANTON, MASS. — Dunkin’ Donuts is expanding non-diary alternatives to milk and cream with the addition of almond milk. In partnership with Blue Diamond Growers, select Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants will offer vanilla Almond Breeze almond milk.

Pillsbury introduces Cinnabon-inspired cinnamon rolls

MINNEAPOLIS — Pillsbury and Cinnabon, Inc. are partnering up to roll out Cinnabon-inspired jumbo cinnamon rolls. The cinnamon rolls are available in packages of four with a container of Cinnabon cinnamon topping and a pouch of frosting. The refrigerated rolls are available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $4.49.

MusclePharm launches triple-layer protein bars

DENVER — MusclePharm Corp. is launching Combat Crunch, a baked protein bar with three layers. The 210-calorie bars offer the consistency of soft-batch cookie with 20 grams of protein. In addition, the bars are gluten-free.

Peanut Hottie debuts peanut butter drink

ATLANTA — Peanut Hottie is innovating with a new product: a peanut butter beverage. Peanut Hottie is available in a powder form and is dissolved in hot water. The caffeine-free drink contains 83 calories per cup. In addition, it doesn’t contain artificial additives or colors. Peanut Hottie is available in two flavors: peanut butter and peanut butter and chocolate. The beverage will be available at Wal-Mart in 9.5-oz (13 servings) jars for a suggested retail price of $4.58.

Nasoya rolls out TofuBaked

AYER, MASS. — Nasoya is introducing a pre-cooked and marinated tofu called TofuBaked. TofuBaked is available in two varieties: sesame ginger and teriyaki. The product is ready-to-eat heated or cold and packs in 32 grams of protein per 8-oz package. In addition, it is U.S.D.A. Certified Organic using non-bioengineered soy. “People are increasingly seeking meatless protein options but often overlook tofu as it’s perceived as being difficult to prepare,” said Walt Riglian, chief executive officer of Vitasoy-USA. “TofuBaked makes serving tofu as easy as opening the package. Whether vegetarian or flexitarian, TofuBaked is an excellent meat alternative that packs protein without the cholesterol and fat.” Nasoya TofuBaked is available nationwide.

 

So Delicious expands new coconut milk products

EUGENE, ORE. — So Delicious is rolling out holiday-inspired coconut milk products. The products include CoCoWhip coconut milk whipped dessert topping, coconut milk frozen dessert holiday novelty bars, and coconut milk holiday beverages. CoCoWhip is made with organic coconut milk and is naturally sweetened. It is available in original and light. Coconut milk frozen dessert holiday novelty bars are available in four varieties: vanilla-flavored snowman, peppermint star, three-layer candy corn, and pumpkin spice. Each bar has 120 calories or less and 5 grams of fiber. Coconut milk holiday beverages include mint chocolate, egg nog, and pumpkin spice. The products don’t contain carrageenan.

Quiznos debuts ciabatta toasties

DENVER — Quiznos is introducing ciabatta toasties. The toasties are available in three varieties: honey Dijon ham, turkey pesto, and veggie caprese. Honey Dijon ham features ham, Swiss cheese, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and honey mustard dressing. Turkey pesto offers mozzarella, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, basil pesto, and red wine vinaigrette. Veggie caprese is made with mozzarella, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, olives, cucumbers, and fat-free balsamic vinaigrette. Ciabatta toasties are available at Quiznos nationwide for a suggested retail price of $3.99.

Pillsbury offers filled cookies

MINNEAPOLIS — Pillsbury, a business unit of General Mills, Inc., is releasing two cookie selections called Melts. The two flavors include s’mores and molten fudge cake. S’mores features a graham-flavored cookie with chocolate chips, a marshmallow center, and chocolate drizzle topping. The molten fudge cake selection includes a chocolate cookie, molten chocolate center, and chocolate drizzle topping. Pillsbury Melts are sold nationwide for a suggested retail price of $3.69.

 

RAP releases fruit-flavored gummies

CHICAGO — RAP has begun offering protein gummies that are fat-free and gluten-free. The three flavor offerings include: strawberry, mixed berry, and citrus. A single-serving pouch offers 25 to 35 gummies and 20 grams of protein. The protein delivered comes from whey protein isolate. “We’re excited to launch RAP Protein Gummies as a great-tasting and innovative alternative within the protein category,” said Michael Sayles, head of marketing. “RAP is a consumer-driven proposition. We conducted a significant amount of research and designed the product to meet the wants and needs of protein consumers who are tired of traditional bars and shakes.” RAP Protein Gummies are available nationwide at convenience and supplement stories for a suggested retail price of $1.99 to $2.99 per pack.

 

Blue Bell rolls out Malt Shoppe ice cream

BRENHAM, TEXAS — Blue Bell is expanding its ice cream product lineup with a malt flavor. Malt Shoppe features chocolate malt ice cream with milk chocolate-covered malted milk balls. “We created our Malt Shoppe Ice Cream to capture the unique flavor of a malted milkshake. For an extra kick we’ve mixed in crunchy, chocolate-coated malted milk balls,” said Paul Kruse, chief executive officer and president. Blue Bell Malt Shoppe ice cream is available in pint and half gallon sizes.

 

Mondelēz offers Wheat Thins Popped

EAST HANOVER, N.J. — Mondelēz International is releasing Wheat Thins Popped for food service and vending segments. The new product offering features a lighter and crispier texture with 7 to 8 grams of whole grains per bag. Wheat Thins Popped is available in two flavors: sea salt and sour cream and onion. One serving contains 90 calories and the product doesn’t contain cholesterol, high-fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils, artificial flavors or colors.

 

Traina Foods introduces sriracha sun dried ketchup

PATTERSON, CALIF. — Traina Foods is introducing sriracha sun dried tomato ketchup. “Our California Sun Dried Tomato Ketchup truly celebrates the tomato,” said Willie Traina, chief executive officer of Traina Foods. “And now we are turning up the heat by blending it with Sriracha. The result is an intense tomato flavor with a spicy, tangy finish. It can be used in place of hot sauce or ketchup, as a condiment or base for sauces or marinades, even cocktails like Bloody Marys or margaritas.” Traina Foods sriracha sun dried tomato ketchup is available at select retailers nationwide.
