KANSAS CITY — Consumer demand for organic offerings continues to climb. Sales of organic products in the United States rose 11% to a record $43.3 billion in 2015, outpacing the overall food market’s growth rate of 3%, according to a recent report from the Organic Trade Association.

In response to this demand, food and beverage manufacturers are opting for organic ingredients in their new product launches.

ConAgra Foods, Inc. is adding four organic offerings to its Healthy Choice Simply Café Steamers line: Unwrapped Burrito Bowl, Sweet & Spicy Asian-Style Noodle Bowl, Three Cheese Tortellini and Creamy Spinach & Tomato Linguini.

“We are constantly listening to our customers and strive to provide new options that satisfy their needs,” said Alan Brooks, associate brand manager for Healthy Choice. “Our new organic varieties provide more options to the 45% of consumers nationwide who are actively trying to include organic foods in their diet."

J&J Snack Foods Corp. is extending its Whole Fruit brand line with new Whole Fruit Organic Juice Tubes, available in four flavors: apple concord grape, apple strawberry, apple blueberry and apple cherry.

“We know our consumers are looking for healthy, organic options they feel comfortable serving to the entire family, so we created Whole Fruit Organic Juice Tubes to meet those needs,” said Joanne Mizner, marketing manager for J&J Snack Foods.

Blount Fine Foods is launching a line of organic soups featuring five reformulated recipes and two brand new ones: organic coconut lentil soup and organic broccoli cheddar soup. All seven soups in the lineup are USDA Organic certified.

“As the popularity of prepared foods has exploded at retail, we have seen the call for organics to be part of the solution grow from a murmur to a rumble to a roar,” said Bob Sewall, executive vice-president of sales and marketing for Blount. “For the last two years, our chefs have been working with restaurant chefs to refine our true-to-nature, delicious handcrafted organic recipes; improving our sourcing and collaboration with certified organic farmers; and testing and studying consumer attitudes, tastes and desires as they relate to premium organic soups.”
