TORONTO — Cott Corp. has completed the transition of its North American transportation management to Transplace, Inc., marking a key step in the company’s cost reduction initiatives.

The transition to Transplace, a logistics technology and transportation management services provider, was completed on June 30. The company expects that the web-based technology platform implemented to manage its North American transportation process will optimize carrier assignments, reduce empty miles and improve service levels to customers.

The system is projected to reduce Cott’s North American transportation-related expenses by 4% to 6% over the next two years.

Brent Willis, president and chief executive officer of Cott, said the change is a crucial first step in Cott’s cost reduction initiatives. In addition, he said the company will continue to explore cost reduction opportunities that will lead to sustained and improved profitability.
