Knauss resigns, Douglas promoted to president, Coca-Cola N.A.

ATLANTA — J. Alexander M. Douglas Jr. has been promoted to the position of president, Coca-Cola North America. Mr. Douglas replaces Donald R. Knauss, who has accepted a position with another company.

Mr. Douglas joined The Coca-Cola Co. in January 1988 as a district sales manager in Coca-Cola USA Fountain. He held a variety of positions with increasing responsibility, most recently that of senior vice-president and chief customer officer

"Sandy brings to his new role a deep understanding of our North America business and well-established relationships with our bottlers and key customers," said E. Neville Isdell, chairman and chief executive officer. "He is uniquely positioned to build on the stable foundation we have established in North America."

A 1983 graduate of the University of Virginia, Mr. Douglas began his career at The Procter & Gamble Co., working in a variety of sales and sales management positions.
