PURCHASE, N.Y. — PepsiCo has created a new structure for its North American businesses and has named John Compton to the newly created position of chief executive officer for North America. Mr. Compton will report to Indra Nooyi, who will assume the role of c.e.o. on Oct. 1.
PepsiCo’s worldwide operations now will be organized into two entities reporting to Ms. Nooyi, the new North American division and the existing PepsiCo International division.
Mr. Compton, 45, is a PepsiCo veteran of 23 years with experience in snacks, beverages and foods. He had been president and c.e.o. of Quaker Tropicana Gatorade (Q.T.G.) since 2005. In that position he led a team of experts from PepsiCo and Quaker Oats during their merger integration.
Chuck Maniscalco, a PepsiCo veteran of 26 years, has been named the new president and c.e.o. of Q.T.G. and he will report directly to Mr. Compton.
