Welch's president and c.e.o. to retire

CONCORD, MASS. — Daniel P. Dillon, president and chief executive officer at Welch’s, the manufacturer and marketer of grape-based products, announced that he plans to retire at the end of the month. Mr. Dillon, 61, joined the company in 1981. He was named president and c.e.o. in 1995.

During his 25-plus years with Welch’s, Mr. Dillon was responsible for establishing the company’s new products program. He re-energized the Welch’s brand by broadening the product line, increasing advertising support, and penetrating new channels of distribution.

The Welch’s board of directors will consider Mr. Dillon’s replacement at its next meeting.
