DENVER — Maui Wowi Hawaiian and H.E. Butt Grocery Co. (H-E-B), San Antonio, have teamed up on a new retail partnership that will allow Maui Wowi franchise owners to open up stores within H-E-B stores throughout Texas and Mexico.
Denver-based Maui Wowi sells authentic, natural Hawaiian products, fresh-fruit smoothies and blended Hawaiian coffees. Many of the food products sold are either grown or baked in Hawaii.
The company distributes its goods through its network of nearly 500 franchises.
Maui Wowi opened its first location at an H-E-B store in Katy, Texas, near Houston earlier this month. The company plans on opening seven more Maui Wowi sites inside H-E-B stores during the first quarter of 2007.
"Our relationship with Maui Wowi Hawaiian will enhance the retail experience of H-E-B customers by offering them an escape from the ordinary," said Cyndy Garza, director of public affairs for H-E-B Houston. "It will be a place where they’ll be able to purchase authentic Hawaiian products and healthy, all-natural beverages."
