PURCHASE, N.Y. — PepsiCo, Inc. has named Cynthia M. Trudell senior vice-president and chief personnel officer. She succeeds Margaret D. Moore, who will retire in June following 33 years with the company.

Ms. Trudell will join PepsiCo immediately and transition with Ms. Moore until June.

Ms. Trudell has been a member of PepsiCo’s board of directors since 2000. She has resigned from that position to assume her new role with the company, PepsiCo said.

From 2001 to 2006, Ms. Trudell was president of Sea Ray Group. From 1999 until 2001, she was General Motors’ vice-president, and chairman and president of Saturn Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors. She began her career with the Ford Motor Co. as a chemical process engineer. In 1981, she joined GM and held various engineering and manufacturing supervisory positions. In 1995, she became plant manager at GM’s Wilmington Assembly Center in Delaware. In 1996, she became president of IBC Vehicles in Luton, England, a joint venture between General Motors and Isuzu.

She received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, and a doctorate in physical chemistry from the University of Windsor in Ontario.
