COPENHAGEN, DENMARK — Danisco is launching a global program that focuses on boosting the immune health in refrigerated juices by adding Howaru Bifido, the company’s brand name for the Bifidobacterium lactis HN0019 probiotic strain. Test results have shown the probiotic strains survive in fruit juice for more than 40 days at 4 degrees Celsius (39 degrees Fahrenheit), said Marie Jane Fallourd, beverage group manager at Copenhagen-based Danisco.

Peggy Steele, global business director, Health & Nutrition, BioActives, for Danisco, said, “Consumers are searching for natural healthy solutions for boosting immune health. With Howaru Bifido fruit juices, we can offer our customers a healthy and appetizing product, including people who are lactose-intolerant.”
