DIEMAN, THE NETHERLANDS — Purac, the world’s largest producer of natural lactic acid, lactates, gluconates, lactitol, lactides and polylactides, has acquired the meat lactates business of Lenexa, Kas.-based Wilke Resources, Inc. The transaction does not include Wilke’s other lactate business activities such as bioremediation.

Wilkes, which operates a distribution business in lactates for meat preservation, sourcing or manufacturing lactates externally, has annual sales of approximately $18 million.

Purac, which is a subsidiary of Amsterdam-based CSM n.v., said it will integrate the Wilke’s meat lactates business into the Purac North American business.
