WASHINGTON — Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns will be a featured speaker for the National Agriculture Day luncheon, scheduled for March 15 in Washington. This year’s theme is "food and fuel," and will include discussion from industry, government agencies and students from the Future Farmers of America on topics such as the production of food, fuel and fiber products, as well as the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy.
In addition to Mr. Johanns, representatives from the Ag in America Tour have been invited to speak, including Samuel W. Bodman, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy; and Bob Dinneen, president of the Renewable Fuels Association.
National Agriculture Day events are organized by the Agriculture Council of America (A.C.A.) and serve as the kick-off for National Agriculture Week, March 18-24. The A.C.A. is a nonprofit organization composed of leaders in the agricultural, food and fiber community, dedicating its efforts to increasing the public’s awareness of agriculture’s role in modern society.
