IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO — Idaho Fresh-Pak Corp. (Idahoan) has merged with United Fresh Potato Growers of Idaho and R.D. Offutt Co.
The newly formed arrangement combines the potato supply resources of United Fresh Potato Growers of Idaho, the potato processing business of R.D. Offutt in several states, and the Idahoan facilities in the state. The goal is to form a network of potato processing plants with easy access to markets and customers.
"Idahoan set the gold standard for the potato industry with its real potato product line and ability to develop products and packaging that meet customer’s and consumer’s needs," said Ron Offutt, president of R.D. Offutt Co. "Under one company, we look forward to building on this history of success and track record of innovation by providing a full spectrum of potato resources at competitive prices."
The J.R. Simplot Co. will manage national food service sales for the company.
Ryan Clement, president of Idaho-Fresh-Pak Inc., said pooling resources to reduce costs for customers was a primary factor in deciding to merge.
Idaho Fresh Pak Corp. is a retail, food service and club brand of potato products, United Fresh Potato Growers is a cooperative of potato growers, and R.D. Offutt is the largest potato grower in the country.
