LOUISVILLE, KY. — Ralcorp Frozen Bakery Products, a subsidiary of St. Louis-based Ralcorp Holdings Inc., is considering adding a new line to produce cinnamon rolls at its facility in Louisville, according to an article in the St. Louis Business Journal.
According to plans on file with the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority in Frankfort (K.E.D.F.A.), the expansion would represent an investment of $4.7 million, and the K.E.D.F.A. board has granted Ralcorp preliminary approval for up to $1.5 million in state tax incentives for up to 10 years.
The incentives are considered critical if Ralcorp is to opt to expand in Kentucky, the company said. Ralcorp already operates a Chicago facility that produces cinnamon rolls.
Ralcorp purchased Bakery Chef in 2003 for $287.5 million and renamed the business Ralcorp Frozen Bakery Products. The company now includes Bakery Chef biscuits; Krusteaz pancakes, french toast and waffles; Earl of Sandwich bread; and Lofthouse and Parco cookies. The company also makes breakfast products for McDonald’s restaurants.
