BERKELEY, CALIF. — Sheryl O’Loughlin, chief executive officer of Clif Bar & Co., has decided to leave the company to spend more time with her family.
Ms. O’Loughlin, 40, has been with Clif Bar for 10 years, including the past three as c.e.o. With her departure, Gary Erickson and Kit Crawford, Clif Bar’s owners and founders, have resumed leadership of the privately-held company, effective immediately.
"Sheryl’s passion for creativity and talent for business have been instrumental in Clif Bar’s unique culture and ongoing success," Mr. Erickson said. "As c.e.o., Sheryl encouraged individual creativity and innovation resulting in unprecedented company growth. Her nurturing leadership has been a constant source of inspiration in our journey towards sustainability. Sheryl will be deeply missed by every person in this company."
Ms. O’Loughlin joined Clif Bar in 1998 as the head of brand marketing. In 1999, she spearheaded the company’s launch of Luna, the first whole nutrition bar for women, one of the first foods of any kind to address the specific nutritional needs of women.
"Clif Bar has been an amazing experience," Ms. O’Loughlin said. "I am honored to have worked with such an exceptional group of people and to have been part of a company that is creating positive changes in the world."
