N.R.A. elects board members at annual convention

CHICAGO — The National Restaurant Association elected several new members to its board of directors for the 2007-08 term as part of its annual convention held May 19-22 in Chicago.

Richard E. Rivera, chairman and chief executive officer of Rubicon Enterprises, L.L.C., was named chairman of the N.R.A. board. Rubicon is a restaurant development company based in Sarasota, Fla., that focuses on two brands: TGI Friday’s and Marlow’s Tavern.

A veteran of restaurant industry affairs, Mr. Rivera has spent 14 years on the N.R.A.’s board as a voting director, including serving as chairman of the government affairs and public policy and convention committees, as well as task forces on multicultural outreach and technology development.

Also elected to the board were Michael S. Kaufman, president of Pond Hill Ventures L.L.C., as vice-chairman; and Michael Gibbons, president of Main Street Ventures, as treasurer.
