MILWAUKIE, ORE. — Moving to a 320,000-square-foot facility will triple manufacturing capacity for Bob’s Red Mill, based in Milwaukie. The company has started manufacturing some gluten-free product lines at the new facility and should be moved in completely by the end of September.
"This should take care of our needs for the next 10 to 15 years," said Bob Moore, founding partner of Bob’s Red Mill.
The new Bob’s Red Mill facility includes 17 acres of land with 7 of the acres under roof. The facility will include 43,800 square feet for conventional manufacturing, 36,800 square feet for conventional packaging, 23,000 square feet for manufacturing and packaging dedicated to gluten-free products, 130,000 square feet for distribution, 19,266 square feet of office space and 81 loading docks.
The miller will be able to create gluten-free products at four times the current rate.
"Our goal is to continue to meet our customers’ increasing demand for more whole grain foods, and gluten free is a big part of that," Mr. Moore said.
Bob’s Red Mill offers more than 400 products. The company plans to sell and sub-lease its current 130,000-square-foot facilities across from its Whole Grain Store and Visitors Center in Milwaukie. The Whole Grain Store and Visitors Center will stay at its current location.
