Bridgford suffers loss in second quarter

ANAHEIM, CALIF. — Bridgford Foods Corp., a producer of frozen dough, microwavable sandwiches, dry sausages, processed meats and other convenience food products, sustained a loss of $273,000 in the second quarter ended April 20, down sharply from net income of $72,000 in the same period a year ago.

Net sales in the quarter eased 1.5% to $27,894,000, down from $28,305,000 in the second quarter of fiscal 2006.

For the first half of fiscal 2007, the company suffered a loss of $232,000, which compared with a loss of $65,000 in the first half of fiscal 2006. Net sales were $60,207,000, down 4% from $62,880,000.
