Horizon Organic expands in the Midwest

BROOMFIELD, COLO. — Horizon Organic has expanded into Nebraska and South Dakota, which brings the company’s total number of states with organic farmer-partners to 22.

Seven family farms in Nebraska and one in South Dakota have joined Horizon Organic. The farms in Nebraska are located in the northeast corner of the state near Bloomfield and Stanton with herds ranging in size from 35 to 130 dairy cows. Tom Hansen, the new farmer-partner in South Dakota, is located in Winfred and milks 40 cows.

In 2006, Horizon Organic expanded into Virginia and Massachusetts and added 64 certified diary farms to its base of farmer-partners.
