John Popp succeeding Dan Nagle at I.B.A.

WASHINGTON — John Popp, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Perfection Bakeries, Fort Wayne, Ind., has been elected chairman of the Independent Bakers Association. Mr. Popp was elected June 20 at the 2007-08 annual meeting of the I.B.A. at the Washington Court hotel.

Mr. Popp succeeds as chairman Dan Nagle of Nagle Kyle Associates, Inc., in Philadelphia. Elected first vice-chairman of the I.B.A. was Robert J. (Sandy) Whann IV, Leidenheimer Baking Co., New Orleans; second vice-chairman, Leonard Amoroso, Amoroso Baking Co., Landsdowne, Pa.; treasurer, Heidi K. Brenner, Quality Bakery Products Inc., Knoxville, Tenn.; secretary, Jon Althoff, General Mills, Inc., Minneapolis; and president, Nicholas A. Pyle of I.B.A.

Also elected to the I.B.A. executive committee were Andy Barowsky of Lepage Bakeries, Auburn, Maine; Steve Fink, Scarsdale, N.Y.; Chris Freihofer, Lake George, N.Y.; Marvin Eversdyke, Milford, Pa.,; Lee Ottenberg, Ottenberg’s Bakers Washington; Pete Smith, Baltimore; and Robin Alton, Pan-O-Gold Baking Co., St. Cloud, Minn.
