Malt-O-Meal manufacturing facility to serve East coast

MINNEAPOLIS — Malt-O-Meal plans to hold a ground-breaking ceremony on Tuesday, June 26, for a new manufacturing facility in Asheboro, N.C., that will expand the company’s East coast market. The facility will include the remodeling of a 175,000-square-foot building, formerly occupied by Unilever Best Foods, and new construction of an additional 200,000 square feet.

Operations for the facility are scheduled to begin in late 2008. Malt-O-Meal plans to employ more than 180 people by 2012.

"The plant will serve as Malt-O-Meal’s East coast manufacturing location, expanding our capacity and reach from New England to Miami," said John Lettman, chief executive officer of Malt-O-Meal Company, based in Minneapolis.

The plant will become the fourth in Malt-O-Meal’s distribution network. The company also has two plants in Northfield, Minn., and one in Tremonton, Utah.
