Matheson to head technology efforts at Unilever

LONDON — Unilever P.L.C. has named Neal Matheson to the new position of chief technology officer.
Mr. Matheson will provide guidance on science and technology issues, lead science platforms, develop R.&D. and have responsibility for the company’s safety and environmental assurance center.
He comes to Unilever from Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, and previously worked at P&G.
"I am very pleased that Neal is joining us in this important new role," said Patrick Cescau, group chief executive. "Unilever has always recognized the importance that great science and technology play in driving business success. I am confident that Neal will help drive and enhance the long term growth of Unilever through scientific innovation."
