HARRISBURG, PA. — Sara Lee Corp. plans to build a new $24 million, 182,000-square-foot facility on a 40-acre site in Pottsville, Pa., according to the Schuylkill Economic Development Corp., which worked with the Governor’s Action Team and Sara Lee to secure a $375,000 financial package for the project.

The building will feature cooler and freezer space, as well as a temperature-controlled shipping and receiving dock. Sara Lee said the facility will handle the company’s signature frozen baked goods, as well as meat brands such as Ball Park, Hillshire Farms and Jimmy Dean. Sara Lee also plans to build a 15,000-square-foot, two-story office building at the site. The distribution center and regional customer service center are expected to create 123 jobs for the area.
