URBANA, OHIO — The Bundy Companies, a supplier of equipment to the baking industry, announced it has acquired Sidney, Ohio-based Shaffer Manufacturing Corp. from George Dunbar.
"Shaffer has established itself as a leader in horizontal mixers, serving the bread, roll, cookie, cracker, snack and confectionery and pet food markets," said Russell T. Bundy, president and chief executive officer, The Bundy Companies.
For more than 20 years, Shaffer has produced a wide range of mixing systems. Shaffer mixers are available with high speed roller bar, single sigma or double sigma arms agitators; in enclosed frame or sanitary open frame design; and as stand alone mixers or fully automated, integrated mixing systems to include dough pumps, incline conveyors, dough chunkers, trough elevators and stainless dough troughs.
Mr. Dunbar, who along with Don Shaffer formed Shaffer Manufacturing Corp. in 1986, acquired majority holdings of the company and its assets in March 2005. The Shaffer family retained its majority holdings in Shaffer Metal Fab.
"As we move forward, the marketplace will see increased efforts in the development and implementation of new designs and technologies, as well as the introduction of entirely new products," Mr. Bundy said. "Our goal is to build Shaffer into the most trusted and reliable supplier of horizontal mixers and processing equipment for the industry."
In addition to Shaffer, The Bundy Companies portfolio of operations include: American Pan — industrial baking pans; Pan Glo — silicone coatings for baking pans; DuraShield — non-stick coatings for baking pans; Chicago Metallic — bakeware for retail and food service; and RTB — pre-owned bakery equipment.
