ATCHISON, KAS. — Donald Coffey, Ph.D., has been named vice-president of innovation at MGP Ingredients, Inc.
His responsibilities will include overseeing the company’s research and development initiatives. This role had been the responsibility of Sukh Bassi, Ph.D., MGPI’s chief science officer, who was recently appointed to the newly created position of vice-president of scientific affairs.
"With the strong research and development competency MGP Ingredients has built over the past several years, Don’s background and expertise are very well suited to facilitate our increased focus on commercializing the exciting products and technologies in our R.&D. pipeline," said Tim Newkirk, president and chief operating officer. "Don’s role will be critical to our strategy of developing strong, innovation-based partnerships with customers, a process through which MGPI will be best positioned to bring to bear our complete portfolio of naturally derived ingredients and distillery products."
