CSM sells gluconic acid business

DIEMEN, THE NETHERLANDS – CSM sold the customer base for its small-scale gluconic acid business of Purac America, its subsidiary, to Fuso Chemical, based in Japan, for about $2.5 million. The gluconic acid business consists of gluconic acid, sodium gluconate and glucona delta lactone.

Sales in 2006 amounted to about $5.7 million. Purac America is based in Janesville, Wis.
