ST. LOUIS — Panera Bread Co. said system-wide comparable bakery-cafe sales increased 2.3% for the four weeks ended June 26. Year-to-date, system-wide sales were up 1.1% compared with the same period a year ago.

Comparable bakery-cafe sales percentages exclude closed locations and are based on sales for bakery-cafes that have been in operation for at least 18 months, the company said.

Company-owned bakery-cafe sales increased 2.1% in the four-week period, and franchised bakery-cafe sales rose 2.4%.

The company also announced revenue increased 28% to $253 million for the quarter ended June 26, which compared with $197 million during the second quarter of 2006.
